Metadata information: 1) Data name: Alberta forest landscape fragments (AB_FLF_2Approx.shp) 2) Short description: This data layer represents forest landscape fragment polygons larger than 5000 ha for boreal forest ecozones. A forest landscape fragment is defined as a contiguous mosaic of naturally occurring ecosystems in Canada's forest ecozones, essentially undisturbed by significant human influence. It is a mosaic of various natural ecosystem including forest, bog, water, tundra and rock outcrops. For project details please visit: http://www.globalforestwatch.ca 3) Data type and format: Vector digital data, Arc View (*.shp) 4) Creation Date: July, 2007. 5) Source of information-data origin: Forest landscape fragments were created by Global Forest Watch Canada from visual interpretation of Landsat 5TM (late 1980's to early 1990's) and Landsat 7ETM+ (late 1990's to early 2000's) imagery. Recent (2005/2006) images were used in the foothills and in northeastern Alberta where images were available. Several ancillary datasets were also used to aide in delineation of anthropogenic disturbances. 6) Projection Information: Projection: Lambert Conformal Conic Units: meters Datum: North American Datum 1927 Spheroid: Clarke 1866 Central Meridian: -95 degrees Reference Latitude: 49 degrees Standard Parallel 1: 49 degrees Standard Parallel 2: 77 degrees False Easting: 0 m False Northing: 0 m 7) Publisher: Global Forest Watch Canada 10337 146 Street Edmonton, Alberta T5N 3A3 8) Contact name: Matt Hanneman GIS / Remote Sensing Specialist Phone: (780) 422-5989 E-mail: matt@globalforestwatch.ca
